Residents are invited to learn more about crime prevention and to meet The Gulfport Police Department and other City Departments at the Gulfport's Night Out. This interactive community event is Thursday, August 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.at the Catherine Hickman Theater at 5501 27th Avenue South at the surrounding parking lot and north block lot located on 26th Avenue South.

 
All will get to meet and learn about the Gulfport Police Department, but also the Gulfport Fire Department and other City staff will showcase information on other Departments within the City. Check out Gulfport's prime Police and Fire vehicles as well as the Marine unit. The Fire Department will present a Fire Water demo.  You can snap a picture with the pristine 1925 Lafrance fire truck! Bring your bike as the Police Department will offer free bike registrations, helmets as well as a bike rodeo provided by All Children's Hospital.

Other demonstrations include St. Petersburg Police department K-9 unit along with Amos, the Wonder Horse. Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will display the Forensic Mobile unit for participants to learn more about the process. Pinellas County Consumer Services will hand out important information. Florida Fish and Wildlife information has a presentation booth and kids can check out their boat. Sunstar will be on hand their special robot and an ambulance. Other demonstrations include the roll over simulator from Florida Highway patrol. Enjoy free kid friendly activities with popcorn, sand art necklaces, a high striker for kids, mini hoop shot basketball and a few more additional games with prizes. Kids and adults can bring their bikes in for registration. 

For your safety, 26th Ave. S. is closed between Beach Blvd. north bound and south bound.  Parking is available at the Gulfport Senior Center (5501 27th Ave. S.), Beach Boulevard traveling south on the west side and Beach Boulevard traveling north on the east side. Additional parking is available at the Gulfport Library (5501 27th Ave. S.) after 7 p.m.
