Sunday Funday at GameTime!

GameTime Tampa has been on our list of places to go for a while now so I am glad we finally got the opportunity to hang out over there for a couple hours.

GameTime is centrally located in Ybor CIty, in Downtown Tampa. It is fairly easy to get to and find. Parking was not an issue at all, we choose street parking to the West of the building because it was a Sunday night, so the meters down there were not on. Since we went on a Sunday night GameTime was not terribly busy, we went later in the evening to avoid any parties or groups that might have been there. I am going to assume Friday and Saturdays are usually busy and crowded throughout Ybor so we avoided the weekend crowds.

Once inside, we went to the restaurant/bar area to order food and drinks. The staff was very friendly and quick to help. We ordered half pepperoni and cheese and a few drinks.

We were given the options for gaming and there are also signs around that clearly explain what the Game Cards cost. It is a pretty simple process also....you pick which level you want, pay, and play. We were given cards to complete this review so I was unaware that the Game Card we were using did not include games that gave out tickets or the claw games. My younger kids love to go to Chuck E Cheese and earn toys and candy so they were a little disappointed that all their game playing did not earn them any of the prizes. We are going to go back again and play with the option to win for them so it wasn't that big of a deal.

GameTime Pricing Table

  • TIMED PLAY Game Card – Purchase a “Timed Play” Card and Play for that Length of Time. Timed Play Game Cards are Not Valid on Some Prize, Photo or E-Ticket Dispensing Games. Timed-Play Game Cards will Not Accrue E-Tickets.
  • FUN-RAISING Game Cards – Sell GameTime Game Cards for Your Fundraising and/or Charity Event.
  • Specialty Game Cards – Available During Certain Promotions, Seasonal and Special Events
After everyone ate we headed over to the gaming area. The whole building is huge and the layout is very open. The games are all spaced well enough apart which is a nice option. You don't have to worry about running into anyone or anything. Since it was not very busy the older kids were able to wander around and play the games they wanted and I could still easily keep an eye on them. The younger 2 stuck together for the most part and had a great time trying to out play the other. There were a decent amount of multiplayer games as well as single. There were games for all ages....basketball, air hockey, skee ball, connect 4, and a whole section of racing games.

The kids had a really good time, although there were probably more games not working than were. Overall they were able to keep busy and play their favorites over a few times. The food was fresh and hot, the drinks were cold and refreshing. The location itself was big and clean. The staff was helpful and available.
We will be going back once they reopen (see update below).
