They do alot of volunteering and area cleanups. I have contacted them about the kids and I helping out this upcoming weekend, the 26th, with a home clean up they have on their Facebook page.
The Gulfport Neighbors
"To inspire, motivate, and unite our neighbors in order to improve the quality of life in Gulfport." is the mission statement for the group.
This is from their page for this weekends Flash CleanUP
It's payback time, Neighbor, and you are invited to join the first Gulfport Neighbors Flash Cleanup on Sat., April 26, 8 a.m. to 12 noon in Ward 3. We will be lending a helping hand to a fellow Gulfportian who has been living with personal challenges but is determined to help others instead of letting life's proverbial bump in the road keep him from moving forward.
Our recipient was a high-school English and history teacher in the USA and Syria who now is battling a brain tumor, which has severely affected his balance and eyesight. This challenge, although, has not affected his positive attitude or his love for teaching, for he has continued working with students as a volunteer mentor at Boca Ciega High School. "For me it is vital that I give back to society in whatever way I can" he says.
High-school students often need an adult in their lives they can talk to, helping them squeeze past the angst of teen drama and hormonal disruptions, in order to make more informed choices as they assess their life journeys. Our fellow Gulfportian is one of those special individuals who takes the time to help students in our community make critical life decisions by sharing two important commodities: wisdom and time.
In gratitude for his service, Gulfport Neighbors will be lending our neighbor well-deserved and much needed landscaping help through our first Gulfport Neighbors Flash Cleanup. Immediate neighbors will be given personal invitations to join us; in addition, we are reaching out to the entire community to join us with a mower, edger, rake, leaf blower, shovel, cutters, clippers, snippers, pole saw or chainsaw, giving whatever time you can with this undertaking. Remember, “Many hands and big hearts can make a difference!"
