7 October Crafts to start the season off! #October

October is here! Time for the weather to change (hopefully) and the decorating for fall to begin. Time for pumpkins and costumes, candy and apples! And holiday crafts! Here are a few of our favorites for the month of October. Hope you and your family enjoy them!

O- Owl Handprint Pictures
Owls are so cute and very easy for little hands to make. These handprint owls were found over on Plaid Crafts. They can be made on regular paper or on canvas to last for years. I love the colors that were used with these ones.

C- Carving Pumpkins
I am posting a whole 31 Days Of October Pumpkin Carving Templates. There are tons and tons of ideas and designs available. From cats and bats to skeletons and haunted houses, princesses and Disney to Frankenstein's and spooky sayings. Pumpkin carving is a family favorite here.

T- Tortilla Shapes
The Halloween tortillas are a great way to add something to snacks throughout the month. Just cookie cutter out some spooky shapes from tortilla rolls and bake for a few minutes. Some days the kids added cheese and others just plain salsa. These were a big hit with the kids and their friends. Originally found over at Simply Designing

O- Owl Handwarmers
This is a pretty easy craft. Great for the upcoming cooler weather. These make great gifts for teachers, family, neighbors, and just about anyone. Older kids, or adults, can do the cutting of the pattern but the younger kids can definitely help out with some chunky string and a plastic needle. Full tutorial over on Repeat Crafter Me.

B- Halloween Bark
You can use basically anykind of candy. This is great for all that leftover Halloween candy! The kids made some this week and are using it to BOO a few friends and family. This is something any age can help out with in the kitchen, I found the recipe we used on Pinterest and on Family Fresh Meals.

E- Erupting Pumpkins
Once the Halloween pumpkins are carved, instead of just throwing them out you can experiment with some science. Erupting pumpkins are awesome and kids love them!! Growing a Jeweled Rose has a full tutorial.

R- Rock Jack O'Lanterns
This is such a great way to reuse rocks collected on random walks with the kids. My kids love to walk and wander around the neighborhood and they love to bring home rocks...and other various treasures. This rock jack o'lantern craft is super easy and durable.
