Computer Science Education Week starts today! #CSEdWeek

Computer Science Education Week is from December 8th to the 14th. This is a great opportunity to share and introduce coding to children. Glenn wants to be an engineer but has also looked into Computer Science so we will be on the site for resources during CSED Week. Tierney has also started to take an interest in programming and coding so I think I am going to find her a few things to try out, like Code with Anna and Elsa from Frozen. I like that they give her step by step instructions and she can actually see what she is doing as she is learning it.

I find these numbers crazy! I would have thought that more kids would be interested in learning code and other aspects of computers in general.

This year there is also the Hour of Code, where teachers, parents, and students are asked to dedicate one hour during the weekly event to teach coding.
What is the Hour of Code? The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics
When is the Hour of Code? Anybody can host an Hour of Code anytime, but the grassroots campaign goal is for tens of millions of students to try an Hour of Code during December 8-14, 2014, in celebration of Computer Science Education Week. Is it one specific hour? No. You can do the Hour of Code anytime during this week. (And if you can't do it during that week, do it the week before or after).
Head on over to Hour of Code to learn more about the hour and different levels of tutorials.

Coding is very important when you think about the future, where everything is going. With more phones and tablets and computers being made, and more people having access to every thing and information being shared, I think it's very important to be able to learn the language of coding and programming.
