5 Free Travel Apps {travel}

We are getting ready to go on a weekend roadtrip to Georgia and are getting everything together. I have been online looking for things to do and places to stop between St Pete and Marietta, Georgia. We have been invited to the Georgia Renaissance Festival and I have been searching for different travel apps.
Here are a few of my favorites!

Since I used Hotwire.com to get our car rental I downloaded the app, which honestly I wasn't even aware of. You can choose to sign up/in with Hotwire and keep track of all your trips and travel plans. With the app you can check rates for hotels and rental cars. The app can use your current location or you can enter one. Either way it is a super simple process. The map options make using the app and finding what you are looking for very easy and user friendly.

Road Ninja is awesome! It is the ultimate driving assistant. It gives you real time gas, shopping, lodging, and places of interest. Road Ninja gives you information on each exit during your trip. The app also features current promotions and offers as well as the ability to share all aspects of your trip with social media. I personally love this app!

Since we blog about places we visit we use Tripadvisor. I recently downloaded their app to keep up with everything around us when we are out and about. Makes leaving reviews easy too.

Roadtrippers is fun! It gives you information on all kinds of attractions, natural wonders, and "weird stuff." The kids love when we hop in the car and drive somewhere  new and this app helps us do that. It gives us semi off the grid fun! Places like Meteor Crater in Arizona and the Chandelier Drive Thru Tree in California.

The kids are homeschooled and we like to make up our own field trips. Fieldtripper does just that. This app runs in the background of your smart phone. It alerts you to locations for a field trip. I use this app for local places to go often. This app has interesting places and you drive and you can customize by "thumbs up" and "thumbs down."

Do you use any of these apps? Leave comments with what you use and your favorites!

  1. Good apps! We use WAZE for traffic reports and such. My daughter and son-in-law live in Marietta. I live in middle Ga. I recently started a series of posts and am working on adding to a page specific to Georgia. Feel free to stop by and check it out. http://bit.ly/1IM9tTL
    I hope you enjoy your trip.
