Mending Series #LocalEvents
Tierney has decided she wants to get into fashion, not just any fashion....upcycling. We all know what that is....taking something used and making into something new. I have searched Pinterest for some ideas, of course there are a ton! She has been on there also and is going to make a few dress forms this week. She has a bunch of ideas pinned on getting started too. I am hoping this is something that can and will grow with her. There are so many options for the future if it is really something she wants and likes to do. I am also going to Ikea with her to get her a few of the dress forms they have there and some organization stuff for her room. I know we will leave there with much more but that goes without being said really.

The store is actually pretty awesome too....if you are out and about in the area. As far as I understand, most of the items they have for sale are donated. The first time we were in there (they were in Ybor in Tampa), we filled a box and spent like $20. Not bad at all because we were able to pick and choose what we wanted. We had fabrics, markers, papers, and misc crafty items.
Check the site or Facebook for anything new or different.
This is from the site: Every Saturday and Sunday we are hosting a $25 Fill A Bag Sale on our Pay As Your Wish inventory. (textiles, knitting, crochet, trims, notions, scrapbooking, magazines, paper, pattern, and more)
Fill A Bay rules:
*bag is 15 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 6 1/2"
*store credit cannot be used towards the $25
*valid on most all items in the store, excluding set priced items and Handmade Marketplace inventory.
*weighables (jewelry, beads, buttons, etc) can be a portion of the bag but not the whole bag.

That sounds so neat! I go the other way & take old clothes to upcycle them into toys for the kids. :)
ReplyDeleteOh man - I would love a class like that. When I took a sewing class years ago, it was more about how to use the machine. I kept saying I wanted to learn how to fix things. Don't get me wrong - I learned a great deal and still love sewing. But could still use some help with mending.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun. I do that all the time with my clothes and turn them into something for my daughter.
